Judy's Mom's Lasanga

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Parsley Flakes
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons Basil
  • 3/4 Salt
  • 1 can Stewed Tomatoes (we like the Italian-style)
  • 1 - 6 ounce can Tomato Paste

Cheese Mixture

  • 2 cups of Cottage Cheese
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Parsley Flakes
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 6 Lasanga Noodles
  • 1/2 pound shredded Mozzarella Cheese

In a large pan, brown the Ground Beef slowly. Spoon off excess fat.

When browned completely, add remaining ingredients for the Meat Mixture. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 - 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

While the Meat Layer is cooking, cook the Lasanga Noodles per the package instructions. Rinse in cold water. Keep noodles in water until you assemble the lasanga. Drain.

In a bowl, mix together the ingredients for the Cheese Mixture and refrigerate.

In a greased 9"x9" pan, place half the Lasanga Noodles. Add a layer of half of the Cheese Mixture. Add another layer of half the Mozzarella Cheese. Finally, add a layer of half the Meat Mixture. Repeat all layers with the remaining ingredients.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Note: you can prepare the Lasanga ahead of time, store it in the 'fridge, and bake it later for 40 minutes @ 375 degrees.
