Carol's Perfectly Simple Sloppy Joes

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup celery (chopped) or flakes
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Serves 12-15 folks

Brown the ground beef, with the onion and celery. (Judy skips the onion and celery when she makes a 1/2 batch for the two of us)

Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Add additional ketchup and brown sugar to make it moister (to taste.)

Serve on toast, buns, or scoop onto chips.
